The Power of Affirmation

The pronouncement of the father releases the power of affirmation on the son. Jesus is the pattern-son, and a model of how the Father affirms, approves and validates.

“And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” – (Mark 1:9-11).

The heavens was opened during the baptism of Jesus at the river Jordan, and the Father (Jehovah) uttered a powerful word of affirmation upon the Son saying, ‘You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased’, yet he has done nothing, not even a single miracle. Here the Father was affirming the relationship.

Your strength and approval is not in your performance, but in His love. Jesus the pattern Son never did anything, yet the Father endorsed Him and lavished His love and approval upon Him.

“And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him” – (Mark 9:7).

The Father (Jehovah) at this time on the mount of transfiguration once again spoke. This time it was the affirmation of His ministry, as He utters – This is my beloved Son: hear Him (Be constantly listening to and obeying Him).

The father must affirm the relationship before the ministry. The affirmation deficit from a spiritual father to a spiritual son can cause a dysfunction in life and ministry. This is why many are laboring like an ox without result, but they fail to realize that it may be as a result of an affirmation deficit from a father.

The power of affirmation from a father to a son brings blessings and favor upon his life and ministry that sustains him. This you will see under “The Father’s Blessings”.

Moses affirmed Joshua by commissioning him in the presence of Israel – Deuteronomy 31:7-8. He gave Joshua public acknowledgment and conferred power on him. This principle helps understand the process of transfer of leadership, and how to allow our successors to lead in our place or allow them to move on to a place of assigned leadership.

To be successful in ministry it is necessary that we first learn to submit to another within the greater ministry of Father God. Subjection to authority is an important key to experiencing blessing and increase.
