In My Father’s House Are Many Mansions

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1).

I think we need to change our concepts of heaven’s mansion and the expectation of our mansion in heaven next to Jesus’ mansion! When the scripture says, In my Father’s house are many mansions: We need to first understand what the Father’s house is? The Father’s house is not heaven. Nowhere is it found in the scripture that says heaven is the house of God (Father’s House). Heaven is described as a throne from where God as the King makes His decrees and rules His Kingdom.
It is a mistaken concept to believe that the Father’s house refers to a heavenly mansion.

“Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.” (Isaiah 66:1-2).

The Father’s house is the temple, the Body, and this is the Church of the living God today – [See 1 Timothy 3:15a].

The Father’s House is a corporate company of people known as the ekklesia of God (The Church). Each of us as individuals represent a mansion in the Father’s house, and the Lord is now with us in our mansion. Jesus dwells in us and is with us now, unto eternity. He is preparing us as a dwelling for the Lord.

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” (Colossians 1:27).

If you consider John14:23, you will discover that the same word translated “mansion” is the same word as “abode” which in the Greek is called “mone”. It means a staying, that is, residence (the act or the abiding place), abode, and mansion.

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” (John 14:23).

The “abode” refers to a believer. The “mansion” which is the “abode of the Lord” is NOT heaven or in heaven, but it is we who are the Church that have become the dwelling of the Lord – His mansions that He is preparing even until this very day.
