The Season of God

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

“And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” (1 Chronicles 12:32).

The children of Issachar knew what to do in their season. They were able to understand the times and positioned themselves accordingly. These men had understanding for the nation of Israel and knew that the reign of King Saul was ended and the reign of King David begun. They knew it was time to turn the kingdom over to David.

There must be the raising up of the pattern of the descendant of Issachar in this new season of God.

“To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.” (2 Samuel 3:10).

The old pattern of ministry served its season yet it did not bring the Church into her full inheritance in God. There must be a transition from old paradigms to new. Present apostolic ministry, like the descendants of Issachar, will bring understanding of what is required for the Church to fulfill God’s purpose in the earth.

God deals with the Church and with individual believers according to His seasons, although His seasons are different to those on earth. Men determines season by natural times, days and months but the seasons of God are determined by revelation. God gives a new word that characterizes the new day that He seeks to move the Church into. A new season is initiated by present truth, and our response to the truth transitions us into a new season and level in God.

There is a progressive unveiling of the revelation of the purposes of God. It is a process, and God has been working out His eternal purposes and plan. Sometimes the people of God are unaware of what He is doing and are simply not of tune with Him. This causes us to begin to teach things out of the past as being relevant for now, whereas that might not be right. Many things have changed because we have come into a new season in God, even though God gave them in the beginning. As we come into this new season they are no longer valid or required. Some are obsolete.

The seasons of God are not a religious period and program. It is a defining time in one’s life, and it may require God placing individuals in our lives with an understanding and a vision that will totally change our identity and positions, thus creating a need for an impartation to move us into a new level and paradigm.

Understand the timing of God’s operation, His seasons. “Kairos”, “Chronos” and “Aion” are different dispensations of time that regulate the earth.

Kairos means “a specific time” that has been fixed for certain things to be unveiled or fulfilled. No matter what, nothing takes place until that appointed time. It is something that is predetermined.

Chronos derived from the word “chronometer” or “chronology” which means the arrangement of historical events by date and time. It is not a present or future order but it speaks of time and period that are immemorial.

Aion is translated in the Greek as “ages”. It is a dispensation or a length of time. It speaks of an epoch or a generation.

It is important to know and understand the temper of time and seasons. The Church is coming into the kairos season of God where there is an unveiling of revelation to this generation. It is a predetermined season we are in.

Opportunity results from being in the right place at the right time. It is unfruitful to walk in the wrong season (past move) when a change has already taken place in heaven. If we continue to walk in the past season, we are heading for destruction. If we remain in the wrong place, we miss the purpose of God. Some are in the wrong place, call and relationship. Adjust quickly to the present season and move of God. If we know the present time and season but remain in the wrong place, it is inevitable that we are going to miss out in the purpose of God. It is like saying, ‘I know when my boat is coming, and when it arrives, I shall be waiting for it at the airport’. We fail to take the opportunity by being at the wrong place at the right time.

Specific clothing is made for each season. Summer clothes do no keep one warm in winter and can cause discomfort and even loss of life in extreme circumstances.

My first experience with a real winter was memorable. At home, there is either the rainy season or the dry season. It was dry season in West Africa as I dressed in light summer attire, flying to the Ukraine via Moscow. I was to learn that this region has an extreme winter.

On one of the connecting flight from Sofia, Bulgaria to Moscow, Russia, a young Egyptian man asked about my journey. After I replied, he commented in a friendly tone “you must die”. He said I would not last one hour and that I would freeze to death. Adjustments were made and in the absence of a winter coat, I bravely faced the elements in my pyjamas.

Many leaders and ministries walk and operate in the present season with past revelation. It is like being clothed with summer clothing and heading into winter. Recognize the season has changed and the cloud of God has moved. God does not need our permission to move the cloud, He moves whenever He wills. The Children of Israel were subject to the move of God and were prepared, setting a man to watch the cloud; when the cloud moved, he sounded the trumpet. It is important that we get under the authority of one who is hearing clearly from God and follow their instructions because they are the prophetic voice of God that is trumpeting the advance of God.

Our heart attitude and response to God’s unveiled word and His present move will greatly determine our walk in this season in God.

“Then I begged the LORD: “Lord GOD, you have begun to show me, your servant, how great you are. You have great strength, and no other god in heaven or on earth can do the powerful things you do. There is no other god like you. Please let me cross the Jordan River so that I may see the good land by the Jordan. I want to see the beautiful mountains and Lebanon.” But the LORD was angry with me because of you, and he would not listen to me. The LORD said to me, “That’s enough. Don’t talk to me anymore about it. Climb to the top of Mount Pisgah and look west, north, south, and east. You can look at the land, but you will not cross the Jordan River. Appoint Joshua and help him be brave and strong. He will lead the people across the river and give them the land that they are to inherit, but you can only look at it.” (Deuteronomy 3:23 – 28).

In this season of reformation, some will not inherit the promises of God. The Church has wandered outside the veil in apostasy without recognizing the dawning of a new season. The opportunity is nigh for the Church to walk beyond the veil into the revelation of great mysteries.
The purpose of God is eternal. The manifestation of God’s plan will be fulfilled.

“The counsel of the LORD standeth forever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations.” (Psalm 33:11).

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

God has ordained the operation of times and seasons in the earth. Revelation of God’s purpose is assigned to an appointed season and function. The seasons are transitional times that require movement with God. Our response determines whether we are a part of what God is doing or a part of what God used to do. God is fulfilling His purpose and the Church must continue to press in.

“The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.” (Luke 16:16).

We have been brought into a new dispensation and age that is overruled by the Kingdom of God. God is moving us from the age of the church into a Kingdom age. From “church” to “Kingdom”. It is a transitional process that requires integration into the life and pattern of the Kingdom. It is leaving the old and stepping into a new culture and paradigm.

In this present season and move of God, the Church must experience an apostolic migration and integration, so that they can be established in the pattern and purposes of God. Apostolic integration will bring unity of Kingdom activities, rather than church segregations. It will bring the Church into a common goal and equal rights in the activities and advancement of the Kingdom of God. Apostolic integration will help in the development of the “City Church” where there can be corporate integration into an integer “whole and entire” pattern in the Kingdom of God.

Apostolic migration and integration is a process; it is not automatic. The impartation of the apostolic ministry, grace and revelation is something that must be worked out within the Church, so that there can be a successful transitioning from the old order into the new order. This process requires much of the “Father’s Death Sentence” on the old in order to take and walk in the new.

The Father’s Death Sentence:

In this new season in God, we will recognize the Father’s Death Sentence. This is the judgment of God on the old in order to release the new. When we understand this, the Church will cease from trying to raise that which is dead by divine purpose. This is like raising the god, Dagon, before the ark of God. Dagon will fall and break his head, hands and legs. Ignorance to this concept has resulted in the ‘Nehushtan Realm’ of worthlessness, judgment and ultimate death.

“….Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign. Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan. He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him.” (2 Kings 18:1-5).

God gave the brazen serpent to His people in the wilderness as a symbol of salvation and deliverance. Although given for the “Wilderness Season”, the people of God carried and worshipped the brazen serpent 400 years after, even after entering into the Promised Land.

Hezekiah cut down and broke in pieces the serpent and called it “Nehushtan”, a worthless piece of brass. Brass means judgement. When given by God it was a type of salvation and deliverance yet to Hezekiah it was a worthless piece of brass. The season that God assigned the brass serpent to had expired. It no longer brought salvation and deliverance, but judgement.

The routine of religion must end to fulfill the purpose of God in the earth. The past age ends as we step into something new in God.

“Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.” (Isaiah 42:9).

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?…” (Isaiah 43:18-19a).

Proclaim the Father’s Death Sentence on the old and lay it to rest. God will release the new season.

It is high time we realize that the Kingdom isn’t about us or just church, it is about God and His purposes. It is bigger that what the human mind can fathom. Who can fathom the depth of His infinite wisdom? It is beyond description and the comprehension of the human mind and understanding.
