Purpose of Prosperity

“So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward. And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him. And Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar trees, and carpenters, and masons: and they built David an house. And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.” (2 Samuel 5:9-12).

In alignment with God’s plan, financial resources are tools to advance His Kingdom in the earth. The throne of King David and his kingdom was established to bless the children of Israel, God’s chosen people. The purpose of God’s blessing upon the Church individually and corporately is for the advancement of His Kingdom. Financial resources are provided to advance Kingdom purposes.

“Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem. Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem .” (Zechariah 1:16-17).

Regardless of the level of anointing and revelation possessed, the ministry of the gospel is hampered through lack of finance. Money is a force that causes significant breakthroughs. It opens doors for the message of the Kingdom to advance. A prosperous Church has access to the nations of the earth. As a result, the message of the gospel is proclaimed and the Kingdom of God established.

The availability of God’s resources should go beyond our four walls for the completion of God’s divine purpose for our lives and ministry in a global scale.

“”But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18 NASB).

The power to make wealth is given to advance the Kingdom of God and to confirm His covenant. The gospel of the Kingdom is free, but is not cheap. It cost God something precious, the life of His only begotten Son. Proclamation of the gospel to the nations requires money and resources. The apostolic work requires money and resources. A poor Church cannot reach beyond its community because it is financially incapacitated. In the Church, prosperity is a tool that will advance the Kingdom of God in the earth.

In the area of finance and prosperity, the Church has too often operated under the mind-set of survival schemes, rather than Kingdom trust. Provision cannot exceed revelation. What can be comprehended is believed and therefore received. Right motives and attitudes enable the Church to seek God’s will concerning prosperity. He will give us wisdom to develop strategies to obtain the wealth that has been laid up. Remember, ‘God loves and takes pleasure in the prosperity of His saints’ (Psalm 35:27).

A father’s heart is to give to his sons. A father is supply oriented. God is our Father, our source, and our supply. Through Christ, the Church has access to unlimited resources.

“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).
